Holiday with a difference as a family with All Out Africa! Volunteering is a fantastic opportunity for children to learn more about the world and cultures, whilst having time to bond as a family. Memories of a lifetime are created whilst you are supporting other children, families and communities in need.
Family volunteering is recommended both in Swaziland and Cape Town, where our award-winning Lodges have rooms specifically designed for families. Volunteer projects in these locations involve building, sports, childcare and youth development.
There are no age limits on volunteering as a family. Childcare is not provided and the children will be volunteering alongside their parents/caregivers unless specific requests are made.

Anyone at any age can volunteer and it is an incredibly rewarding experience for both the volunteer and the host community. Experience volunteers bring a different dimension through the ability to actively contribute skills and experience on the ground. Transfer of skills and knowledge is enhanced and is greater, more long-term contribution can be made.
Perhaps you may be a recent graduate looking to utilize your knowledge and gain some practical, hands-on experience? You may find our Internships are of interest as they provide more specialist placements and support.
How an experienced volunteer placement works
Our experienced volunteers are encouraged to work with our partners on a more strategic level, empowering their growth and development. Placements can be customized to enable the experience of the volunteer to be matched with a project. Examples of placements follow, they are to give you some ideas and are not an exhaustive list.
An experienced volunteer:
- Teacher may provide teacher training sessions, bring new ideas to teachers in the classroom and contribute to developing the curriculum
- Manager may help with developing processes, systems or policies for an organization, or provide training for staff and management
- Marketer may assist with website development, social media campaigns or long-term strategies for increasing customer base
- Sports coach may develop new sporting programs, train local staff and run sports events within a community
