Timon IngoldKruger to Cape
Mantenga Cultural Village, Swaziland
1/2 Day Trip
Starting at R480
Daily departures available (10:30 & 14:30)
In one of the most beautiful valleys in all of the Swazi Kingdom is nestled the Mantenga Cultural Village. Flanked by forested gorges and a majestic water fall the Swazi Cultural Village offers guests an exciting and interactive half day tour including a traditional Swazi village, stories of Swazi culture, live traditional dancing and a picnic beside the river.
Mantenga Cultural Village is a fantastic Swazi Cultural Experience and gives the visitor a holistic and traditional look at Swaziland, its people, beliefs, way of life and history. The village is set in the beautiful Mantenga Nature Reserve which is part of the Ezulwini Valley (Valley of Heaven). The Cultural Village comprises 3 distinct experiences: the first experience is the traditional Swazi Village which is a re-creation of the original style of Swazi house building. A friendly Swazi guide will show you around the village and explain how the structures are built and how the layouts of a Swazi homestead is determined. You’ll have a chance to look around and ask questions; the second experience is the Swazi Traditional Dancing which is a major highlight of Swaziland. The dance show is a high energy performance full of life and lots of singing. You may well be invited to join in the dance at the end so make sure to have your dancing shoes on! ; the third experience of the half day tour is picnicking at the majestic Mantenga Waterfalls. The falls are the most famous in all of Swaziland and the river is safe to swim in so on hot days you’ll have the chance to paddle up to the waterfall and cool off in the river. This is a great well rounded tour with lots of variety and a great opportunity to learn about Swaziland and its cultural heritage.
This tour departs daily and there are two departure times: 10:30 or 14:30.
The departure point is either Lidwala Backpacker Lodge or Malandela’s. If you depart on the 10:30 tour the order of activities will be as follows: Traditional Dance; Village Tour; and then waterfall picnic.
