CAPE TOWN BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT & PRODUCT DESIGN
Working alongside a socially responsible company, the project aims to improve the daily quality of life of South Africans through creating jobs, opportunities and skills sharing with the local community. They offer a range of high quality, handmade products which are creatively unique and personalised through this process. You will be based at the company, providing assistance with general business management or with product design and marketing.
CAPE TOWN SUPPORT FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES
Apart from the normal struggles of living with a disability, social stigma and discrimination surrounding disabilities mean that People With Disabilities (PWD) face even greater challenges. In many instances, PWDs are not afforded the same opportunities as regular members of society, and this in turn means they are often unable to contribute productively to their communities.
BOTSWANA REHABILITATION & THERAPY
Your role will be based in a local care centres, which provide a variety of services to both in-patients and out-patients which aim to create a more independent life for PWD. These services include physical treatment, educational and vocational training, counselling and and support adaptation within the home environment. You will work alongside centre staff, assisting them and taking on responsibilities as your skills and experience allows.
ESWATINI BUILD A FUTURE
The Build a Future Project aims to assist these vulnerable children through building basic shelters, gardens, water systems and other physical structures needed at households and care points. At the same time, you will be transferring skills, providing basic accommodation and helping give communities’ encouragement and motivation to improve the quality of life. The project uses locally sourced building materials where possible and local methods. We construct mud bricks using a locally made compressor and use other local materials wherever possible. This project caters to volunteers wanting to make a difference but also to groups who want to be involved in larger scale building projects
