ACCOMMODATION

Tilak Lodge is in a perfect location, nestled at the top of the sand dunes overlooking the spectacular Tofo Bay in Mozambique.

The Lodge is a short walk along the beach to the dive centre where the All Out Africa marine research project office is located. It is also a relatively short walk to Tofo village, where there is a market, basic shops, a few restaurants and bars and a number of beach activities available. The nearest town, Inhambane, is approximately one hour away on public transport.

Tilak has a resataurant with a menu full of fresh local produce.

Accommodation is in chalets with a traditional thatched roof. The Lodge offers spacious en-suite private rooms and dorm style accommodation. There's also a swimming pool with bar and relaxation area. and a separate elevated restaurant and bar.

The volunteer accommodation consists of shared dorms sleeping multiple people in sturdy bunk beds. Each bunk is in it's own curtained cubicle and also containing a storage locker per person. Bring a padlock if you wish to be able to secure your belongings. Beds, mattresses, mosquito nets, sheets and pillows are provided - bring your own towel(s). There are shared toilet and shower facilities and communal outdoor living spaces.

MEALS

Participants on an All Out Africa volunteer or internship programme receive 3 meals a day. These meals are provided at Tilak Lodge in their restaurant, or at the dive centre restaurant.

Mozambique is a developing country and not all types of ingredients are readily available. Local cuisine is served to ensure freshness and enhances your cultural experience.

Vegetarians and most food allergies can be catered for. In order to fully support you during your experience, please advise us at time of booking if you have any food allergies or preferences, so we can cater for these in our meal plans. We will do our best but be prepared your food selection may not be as varied as other participants. If your food allergies/preference are quite restrictive, we may require you to pay an additional fee to allow us to cater for you..

LOCATION

Praia do Tofo or simply Tofo is a small town in south-eastern Mozambique. The town lies on the Indian Ocean coast, on Ponto do Barra peninsula in Inhambane Province.

It is famous for its spectacular diving, with regular sightings of marine megafauna including whalesharks, dolphins, humpback whales, manta rays and turtles.

The beach stretches for miles, with an abundance of soft sand and beautiful sunsets to watch each day.
