With the advancement in technology over the years, we now live in a world that is enriched by computers and gadgets. The domination of technology in our everyday lives highlights the importance of digital literacy for young people, therefore we believe it is essential to empower young people with digital literacy skills because it helps them engage positively and confidently in the digital world.

Today, we had our first computer lesson with 20 youth who are part of the All Out Africa Enterprise Development program. These lessons include basic computer introduction, website creation, how to run a business online and website hosting.

The computer lessons are conducted by our partner Prime Digital Technology PTY Ltd, Prime Digital Technology is a full-service tech solutions and digital marketing agency based in Eswatini Southern Africa. “We hope and believe that these lessons will help their businesses thrive and help them run efficiently,” said Martin the Founder of Prime Digital.

Independent Researcher – Calling for Participants

All Out Africa is well known in the industry for its research, with over 90 publications in scientific journals under its belt. In addition to the work our team conducts in Eswatini and Mozambique, we also have support of masters and doctorate students from all over the globe.

Charmaine is one of these students. She contacted us this year looking to collaborate on a research proposal that targets volunteer tourism, and how it is assisting conservation efforts. This is a perfect fit for us!

She is joining our projects in Mozambique in August where she will spend time with our marine conservation volunteers. She has also now opened up the opportunity to be a part of her research to our entire network of volunteers!

If you would like to assist AOA in its mission to support research, and researcher students, and also aid Charmaine in the perusal of her PhD project, we invite you to participate in an online survey that would allow her to understand your experience with All Out Africa as a volunteer. This survey will help us promote our projects and encourage more volunteers to have “Adventures that change lives.”

Call for a Product Development Intern (Fashion)

The Kingdom of Eswatini has the world’s highest HIV/AIDS prevalence rate which has taken its toll on the population leaving many children orphaned or vulnerable. It also has an unemployment rate of about 30% which rises to over 50% among the youth. These factors combine leading to approximately 63% of the population living below the poverty line.

Social enterprise and small businesses are vital to help the economy and to bring income into families. All Out Africa has a network of social enterprises / small businesses which it supports though placement of interns/interns and business mentors. Many of these organisations employ women, who traditionally are more marginalized in the employment market, and are also members of local Fair Trade Organisations to help ensure good standards of working and pay for their employees.

As a part of our Business Development & Product Design Internship Project, we are now specifically looking for an intern to fill a position that focuses on Product Development for one of our SWIFT partners in the fashion industry (accessories).

This intern must have the following qualifications to be considered:

Must have 1-2 years experience
Familiar with fashion trends
Be able to develop a concept into a prototype
Create a cost analysis of new products
Familiar with marketing techniques
Be a self-starter & able to work one on one with business partner

Whether you are looking to gain experience to add to your CV, need to fulfill University requirements or just have the experience to contribute, we like to make our internships as beneficial for each intern as possible. That’s why we want to know in advance if you have a special interest, expertise or goals to achieve whilst you’re completing your internship with us.

NEW Early Childhood Education Internship Available!

Over the years we have humbly received thanks from parents who watch their children excel in school. We have watched as our pint-sized graduates transform into life-size adults, wearing their caps and gowns proudly as they walk across the stage of their high school. We enjoy the drop in visits from our NCP kids who are now grown up, and starting families of their own.

Since 2004, All Out Africa Foundation has developed Six Neighborhood Care Points (NCP’s). For more than 1,000 kids these NCP’s have set a solid foundation for their education and allowed them to speed past their peers once they reached primary school age, and beyond. It has been an amazing journey to watch and be a part of.

As our NCP’s continue to expand their reach and help even more vulnerable children and families, we need to stop and evaluate our successes and our challenges. This is why this year we are calling for special interns to be a part of our Early Childhood Education Internship.

This internship will help us develop and implement a series of evaluation tools to add to our NCP’s. This will help us gage how we are doing, how our kids are learning, how our teachers are teaching and even beyond, tracking our students throughout their studies. NEW Micro Finance Internship Available!

We have an exciting new internship opportunity in Eswatini! The Micro Finance Pilot & Development project in Eswatini works in collaboration with the All Out Africa Foundation. It aims to provide community based individuals who currently volunteer on our projects for little or no incentive, a chance to be awarded a small loan. Over time and with a bit of guidance from interns throughout the year, these new business entrepreneurs will reimburse these loans.

There are many community members we work with who are seeking a way to empower themselves. We are targeting these people, and want to provide them and their great ideas with help, funding, and training to give them the skills they need to succeed. This will enable them to secure a sustainable future for themselves through small-scale entrepreneurship. We hope this kind of initiative will create a ripple of change, that will stem from the entrepreneur and spread through their families and communities as a source of inspiration.

In July of this year (2018) we will complete our first loan cycle. We have a lot to learn from this initial loan reimbursement, and we need to develop a plan for future loans based on this pilot so our future entrepreneurs are getting the best support from our Foundation to find success.
