NEW Project Partner in Cape Town!

The mother city has some exciting news for our volunteers! We have secured an exclusive partnership with a new primary school in Imizamo Yethu! This is amazing news, as it has reopened several vacancies for our South African Destination for the Teaching Project!

The new school hosts 343 children from the townships around Hout Bay, where we operate. There are currently 10 teachers for all these children, and they are in desperate need of support from our volunteers so each child is able to get one-on-one attention in the classroom and the teachers can complete the curriculum that will enable each child to have a solid early childhood education.
Volunteers participating at this school will be given smaller groups of children to work with that need special attention, while the teacher carries out the primary curriculum to the children at the same level. This may include working on English (as many of the children primarily speak Xhosa, but are learning English as the main education language used in the classroom), and may also include Literacy and Numeracy.
The best news is, typically this project is closed in November as the children prepare for exams, but this new school would love the support of our volunteers during this month!
We are now accepting new applications for the remainder of 2019 to help us kick off this new partnership. If you want to make a HUGE difference in South Africa in 2019, let us know so we can start to place volunteers at this new opportunity!
